Russian Intern Needed

IPSEC (The Institute for Peace Studies in Eastern Christianity) is looking to appoint a Russian Intern for a three-month period. The main duty of the Russian Intern will be to translate the text content of the IPSEC website into Russian.Читать

New Conference: "Reformation, Church and Society" (11-14 Dec. 2016, Moscow)

In 2017 the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation will be celebrated. The 16th century Protestant Reformation had a profound impact not only on Western Christianity but also on Western society in general. Can we connect those radical changes that are taking place around us with the processes that began in Europe 500 years ago? What is the peculiarity of the Russian situation? The aim of the forthcoming conference is to discuss such issues. Читать

New Conference: "Theology of Nature" (9-12 Nov. 2016, Utrech, the Netherlands)

The roots of today’s ecological crisis can be traced back to the arrogant Christian attitude that saw nature mostly in an anthropocentric perspective. The theology of nature needs to develop a new approach that sees nature as God’s fully-fledged creation, in no respect inferior to the human being and not an object of human manipulation. What kind of language could theology use for this? Can it learn from other religions characterized by a more respectful attitude toward nature? Читать

New Conference: "Theology of Suffering in Ecumenical Perspective" (26-29 Oct. 2016, Bose, Italy)

The purpose of the forthcoming conference is to reflect on suffering from a theological ecumenical perspective, especially in view of the different challenges Christianity is facing today, such as a new wave of persecutions and violence in the Middle Eastern countries, Africa and other parts of the world.Читать

From 29 June to 11 July 2015, St. Andrew's has held 14th Moscow Summer Theological Institute and 11th Summer Institute on Theology and Science. Читать

The purpose of the forthcoming conference is to gather together biblical scholars and translators in order to discuss existing hot issues in the field of Bible translation into different languages and share information about the best practices and the latest available resources.Читать

New Conference: "History and Theology: Historical Consciousness as a Way to Church Unity" (21–24 Oct. 2015, Bose, Italy)

The aim of the forthcoming Conference is to discuss the historical consciousness in the Eastern and Western churches (especially today, when the world is rapidly changing and the Church constantly faces new challenges) and to clarify how this affects their theology and what possibilities for ecumenical dialogue can be opened here. The aim of the forthcoming conference is to discuss political theology (its scope, purposes, approaches, language, etc.) in different traditions and to see how it can contribute to building civil society in Eastern European countries. Читать

The role of the media is crucial in resolving (or, on the contrary, exacerbating) conflicts between religion and those freedoms on which civil society is founded. That is why it is so important to discuss the ways in which religion, the media and civil society can and should interact. Читать

St. Andrew's in 2014

2014 was a challenging but very fruitful year for us. Despite the local and global problems we held a number of important scholarly and public conferences with accent on ecumenical dialogue and civil society, published many new books and organized several Summer Institutes. Читать

Conference: "Interconfessional and Interreligious Dialogue in Russia and the Post-Soviet Space"

From 12 to 13 December 2014, St. Andrew's Biblical Theological Institute, in cooperation with Institute for the Academic Study of Eastern Christianity (Amsterdam) and St. Thomas Institute (Moscow) has organized an International Conference on interconfessional and interreligious dialogue in Russia and the post-soviet space.
